Seasons.......

Well one of my favorite two seasons have hit Black Mesa Ranch.. NO not spring, summer, fall or winter, it is BRANDING season! The anticipation..... the cowboys, early mornings, (REALLY early!) ridin out as the sun comes up. Bawling calves & a low call of his momma, the zing of the rope, the roar of the brandin fire, the smell of burning hide, smoke & dirt in your eyes, laughter & smiles, someone shouts LOOK OUT! The older cowboy slaps the younger one on the back with a wink and nod, "Good job son." Ah yes, time to Rope, Ride & burn a lil Hide!

My next favorite season comes in the fall, Weanin time.. but for now we are in the season of Branding the calves. Just as a calf has his owners/ranch mark put on him, we come thru the seasons of our life and marks are left on us, some are visible, some not. It seems if we looked forward to what the next season was going to bring as cowboys do to Brandin & Weanin, or as sports fans do to Football, baseball, ect. Life would be some what easier. Or maybe, if we were content enough to just enjoy the season we are in when we are in it we would learn to cherish the moment. As humans we seem to be always looking ahead, wondering what is in store for us or trying to make it into what we want it to be...

I have come to realise that no matter what season you are in as long as it is "HIS" season AND we take it as He gives it to us, it is a Good season!! If we ride for "The Brand" of the man upstairs we will always be riding with the right posse.... And when it is time for us to move on HE will wean us off and send us on our way!

So what ever season you are in at this time, if you are still calving, branding, putting up hay, maybe even off on a lil wild rodeo time, or if it is time for you to be weaned and move on. Ride with "THE Cowboy", ride for His brand and you will be able to ride out any storm that comes your way and find yourself in that forever green pasture someday!

Sit deep, get a firm grip, & Ride into "The Son"
